Shane began his career as a motorcycle and snowmobile jumper. Once drafted by the NHL, he gave up that opportunity to pursue his real passion...stunts! For years, Shane travelled the thrill show circuit, competing against the likes of "Evil Knievel" himself. His prowess on motorcycles and snowmobiles had producers calling on him to beat his own world records, making him a regular on the "Wide World of Sports". |
Next, the film industry called on him. They needed someone with bike experience and he was about as good as they get. Shane worked hard and went on to become a well rounded stunt performer. High falls, body burns, ratchets, air rams you name it he's done it. After a serious accident, Shane soon realized that his body would change the focus of his career. He turned all of his energy into mastering the automobile. |
And master it he did! It wasn't long before the name Shane Cardwell and cars were synonymous is the stunt community. His ability and professionalism soon had him driving with his U.S. counterparts, a rare opportunity for a Canadian. And as with everything Shane puts his mind to, he made his mark. As Gil Combs, friend and partner once said after filming a car sequence with Shane on "Rage", "I tried everything to shake him, and mess him up, but not only did this guy from Canada keep up with me, I couldn't even get him to break a sweat!" |
Dubbed the "one of the best wheelmen in the industry", Shane continues his craft today with a passion, not just in front of the camera. Shane's five page resume includes credits as Director, Producer, Associate Producer, 2nd Unit Director, Stunt Coordinator and Stunt Performer in film, television and commercials. As Shane often says "I'm a very lucky individual". He considers himself fortunate in many ways and through IFPDI looks forward to giving back to an industry he loves and passing on his knowledge and experience.
